Will motorists care for road safety indicators?

November 16, 2017

Sir,

In some parts of the city, road safety indicators like the one shown in the photo (pic.1) were placed on either side of the road dividing concrete blocks, including on the Bogadi road.

But these concrete blocks are not visible from a distance for vehicle riders coming from the city side due to the slope in the road towards Bogadi side. These safety indicators are placed on the road by city Traffic Police to caution the road-users about the presence of obstructions ahead on the stretch. However, some of these were damaged as vehicles hit the indicators itself (pic.2).

Similarly many plastic flexible road dividers placed at various locations of the city were also damaged by motorists due to their rash driving.

Reducing speed of the vehicles at such places can avoid damaging the vehicles as well as the indicators. As nothing comes free in this world, replacing the damaged one again and again may not be possible due to paucity of funds with the department concerned.

Hence, it is the responsibility of the road-users to drive slowly and safely at such locations and not to damage public property.

Motorists first stop using mobile phones while riding scooter/motor bikes.
wearing helmets will protect their lives. Rash riding should be stopped, its fun to them to overtake four wheeler from left and and swing to right.
they do not know how to take turn in four cross road, they cut from left to right side of the approach road. why only two wheeler even most of the four wheel drivers do that hindering the other man on wheels. At night flashing head lights is a major threat.
when they see people are crossing road they not only speed up the vehicle on the person but also horn to scar them while they are crossing the road.
    The overall attitude looks bad.

Mysore is better than traffic behaviour in Bengaluru.

3 days “Swatch Bharat” street cleaning as punishment for traffic offenders will help to reduce the crime.

They are easily getaway paying Rs.100 as penalty risks other people lives.
