New Delhi: Under pressure from the BJP to fulfil his promise, Karnataka CM H.D. Kumaraswamy yesterday said here that he will make the announcement on farm loan waiver on Wednesday in Bengaluru.
Speaking to press persons here yesterday, he said: “I will put forward my Government’s plans on farm loan waiver in very clear terms and with all modalities laid out on Wednesday in Bengaluru.”
Making it clear that he was not going back on his promise, Kumaraswamy, admitting that he had made the promise of announcing loan waiver with in 24 hours after coming to power, however, said that he had sought some time to work out the modalities with his coalition partner Congress.
Pointing out that he has his own limitations, the CM reiterated that he is committed to farm loan waiver or else he will retire from politics.
The BJP had called for ‘Voluntary Karnataka Bandh’ on Monday demanding farm loan waiver as promised by Kumaraswamy in the JD(S) election manifesto.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, State BJP Chief and Opposition leader B.S. Yeddyurappa (BSY), giving an ultimatum to the Chief Minister, said that the party will wait for a week and work on strategies to launch a State-wide agitation for the cause of the farming community.
