Woman killed as private bus hits

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman, who was crossing the road along with her mother, was reportedly killed when a private bus hit her at K.R. Circle in city this morning.

M. Mahalakshmi (38), a resident of Balagangadharanatha Swamy Layout at Yelwal, is the deceased while her mother, Geetha, escaped unhurt.

It is learnt that Mahalakshmi and Geetha had come to city to meet someone at Vontikoppal. After alighting the bus at City Bus Stand, the mother-daughter duo was crossing the road at K.R. Circle when the private bus (KA-55-A-4959), which came from City Bus Stand side, hit the women resulting in Mahalakshmi sustaining serious injuries.

The bus driver reportedly fled from the spot soon after the incident. Though Mahalakshmi was rushed to K.R. Hospital, she breathed her last.

Devaraja Traffic Police, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and have seized the bus.

The body of Mahalakshmi has been shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
