Youths run over by train

Mandya:  In separate incidents, two youths were run over by trains in Mandya yesterday.

In the first case, a 23-year-old youth, who was crossing the railway track at Mandya Railway Station, was killed when a Bengaluru bound train ran over him last night.

The deceased is Karthik, son of Nagashetty and Lakshmi couple and resident of Kunthanahalli in T. Narasipur taluk near Bannur. Karthik, was working as a chat vendor at Mandya Railway Station. 

Karthik’s left hand and leg was severed after the train ran over him. He died on the spot. Mandya Railway Police, who have shifted the body to Mandya Government Hospital, have registered a case.

In another incident, a 27-year-old youth committed suicide by coming under Mysuru bound Gol Gumbaz Express at about 10 am yesterday near Mandya Railway Station. The deceased is Santosh, son of Swamy of Tumbunerale village near Mysuru. A case has been registered at Mandya Railway Police Station.
