Work to remove silt from Pinjrapole Lake begins

May 27, 2019

Mysuru:  Krishnaraja MLA S.A. Ramdas performed Shramadaan yesterday to remove silt from the Pinjrapole Lake at the foot of Chamundi Hill. The Lake has been covered in silt and the water storage capacity of the Lake has reduced drastically.

Pinjrapole Lake gets water from rainwater outlets from Chamundi Hill and due to the silt accumulation, water that has been collected in the Lake overflows. Realising the urgent need of desilting the Lake, Ramdas performed guddali puja for the silt removal works.

The MLA said that the Lake feeds livestock and its water is used to grow fodder for the animals. More water can be stored in the Lake if silt is removed and the desilting work has been initiated by a private firm under its Amruth Jal Yojana. Umesh Raj, Manikchand, Heerachand, Lalitchand Jain, Vinod Jain, Shanthilal Jain, Kailash Bhandari and Ramesh Jain were present.
