Mysore/Mysuru: The elderly retired lady teacher in Mysuru, who had placed a matrimonial advertisement three weeks back seeking a companion, has found a suitable groom. They have decided to be companions for each other for the rest of their life.
The 73-year-old woman, a divorcee, had stated in the advertisement that she was looking for an alliance with a man, who is healthy and older to her and mandatorily a Brahmin, of her community. More than the traditional sense of a husband, the woman was seeking a companion as there was no one to take care of her.
She had a painful divorce and did not want to be a burden for her relatives, even after the death of her parents.
Her advertisement had sparked a debate in the social media. While some made fun of the ad and called her up with the intention of ridiculing her, some others supported her and said that there was nothing wrong in seeking a solution on her own to battle loneliness in the evening of her life.
After placing the ad, the lady got many calls from interested elderly persons from all over the State and she selected a 69-year-old engineer from Mysuru who is a widower and stayed alone.
Seeing the ad, his friends encouraged him to write to the elderly lady who was seeking a companion. The lady and the elderly man met with each other and decided to take the proposal forward.
