Mysuru: Surabhi Gana Kala Mandira Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has arranged a grand Veena concert by Vidwan Ramana Balachandran of Bengaluru on Nov. 30 (Saturday) at 5.30 pm at Sri Bidaram Krishnappa Prasanna Sitarama Mandira on Narayana Shastri Road.
In this bi-monthly event of Surabhi, Vid. Adamya Ramanand and Vid. S. Manjunath will be accompanying Ramana on mridanga and ghata respectively.
Profile: Ramana Balachandran’s talent for music was noticed when at a young age he could identify ragas. He has been performing from the age of 12 and was awarded A grade directly by AIR after auditioning at the age of 16. He has learnt Veena from Vidu. B. Nagalakshmi, vocal from Vidu. Neela Ramgopal and mridanga from Laya Kala Pratibha Mani and Vid. Ranganath Chakravarthy. Ramana has performed over 250 solo Veena concerts in almost all leading Music Sabhas in South India and the US.
