Mysuru: Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, Mysuru, launched a dedicated and comprehensive weight loss clinic (Bariatric Clinic) at its premises which was inaugurated by popular cine and television actor Aniruddha Jatkar on Saturday (Dec.7).

The newly launched clinic will have a team of expert doctors led by Dr. H.M. Lokesh. The team will help patients in diagnosing obesity and offer them with the best possible treatment plan. 

Further, to ensure better outcome, the treatment plans will be developed based on the individual patients, their body type and health condition. 

Equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities, the clinic will provide endoscopic and surgical treatment for obesity and related complications along with individualised dietary and physical activity plan.

Speaking about the facility, Dr. Lokesh, Consultant Bariatric Surgeon, said, “Obesity is one of the fastest growing health concerns the State is facing currently. In fact, in 2007 in Karnataka, only 16% of the population was obese, but in 2015, 26% of the population are suffering from obesity and it is growing at a tremendous pace.  Apart from being a health issue in itself, it is also one of the root causes for many an ailments like diabetes, hypertension, heart, liver and respiratory issues making it critical to identify and treat the condition calling for adequate and timely intervention. Bariatric Surgery will provide cure to complications related to Obesity like Diabetes, Hypertension, Sleep Apnoea, PCOD etc. The clinic will address the growing need to have a dedicated department that will address the obesity concern of the residents of the region.”

With the introduction of the dedicated weight loss clinic, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital becomes region’s first hospital to have such a facility.
