- 24×7 Central Command Centre with LED screens to monitor and relay real-time data
- To check lane discipline; Medical help to reach within minutes in case of accidents
Mysore/Mysuru: In an attempt to minimise traffic woes and enhance the safety of commuters on the Mysuru-Bengaluru 10-lane Highway, an AMR sensor-based Intelligent Transport System (ITS) will be implemented before the Highway is thrown open to traffic.
This will enable authorities to control traffic as well as increase road discipline. Besides, it will help monitor the stretch at all times as well as mitigate accident-like situations and reach accident spot within minutes.
Anisotropic Magneto-Resistive (AMR) sensor-based ITS will enable the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) which is building the Highway to get real-time data on vehicle movement on the Expressway.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, B.T. Sridhar, NHAI Project Director, said that the intelligent system will be implemented all along the route. Sensors, cameras and night-vision gadgets will be placed at a 2-km interval along the Highway.
“So far, we have not implemented the system but are in the process of doing so. Funds for the system will be obtained under additional works and a traffic control room with giant LED screens will be set up for 24×7 monitoring. Information will be relayed from the Central Command Centre or control room in case there are accidents so that help can be reached to the spot within minutes,” Sridhar said.
It is not possible to manually inspect every part of the Highway. Use of technology is economical and will enable the NHAI to get multi-dimensional views on a real-time basis.
AMR sensor-based Intelligent Transport System is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) application connected with high-tech cameras, sensors as well as other traffic violation detection systems such as lane cutting and overspeeding installed on Highways.
“This will minimise the number of accidents and will help us regulate and effectively manage the traffic. The designing of the system will be done in such a way that it provides real-time updates to the Central Command Centre. It will also help us legally in case there are any Police investigations. The system has been implemented in a couple of Highways in India and we will study them before implementing it here,” Sridhar added.
Massive increase in car culture couple with the massive increase in population means, this highway will be congested within 5 years, toll becomes very expensive, corruption through fiddle of the automatic toll collection all will render the highway virtually not effective at all.
I can guarantee that there will be no lane discipline and slow moving traffic will ply on the fast lanes, blocking the smooth movement of traffic. Half this ‘hi-tech monitoring’ will be inoperative in a few years as it will be sourced from the lowest bidder.
The NICE corridor is a glaring example of lane indiscipline. Nothing is ever done to rectify the situation, although we keep paying toll on that road.
Is the picture representative or actual! Only dreams are sold whenever politicians want votes, then left with the horrible reality what we witnessed after spendin 32 crore for less than eight hour visit!
There is a normal service road to travel and free of cost then why ppl are blaming high cost toll fee. If u travel by express road then save more than an hour, atleast can save 2 litter of petrol and tension free travel to Mysore. I know how problematic to travel between 2 cities. Heavy traffic and crossing the cities more pain. If ppl think toll fee is expenses then travel by service road or by bus
Is this ITS made in China or in India? I cannot see any Indian-made electronic system working for more than a week!
Keep bribing the toll gate operators. When the cheaper Russian oil runs out, and when Putin is gone, your car will be very expesnive to run. You need to demand more hefty bribes from those who you serve.
Third world, highly populated, corrupt India!
Rightly said. no control or compliamce on the exchequr or the politicians. only general public need to be penalised for each and every small mistakes. it’s really painful to see that we yet to pay toll for travellibg in good road. despite of paying hefty road taxes. it’s unfortunate state of indian tax payers
A few comments on twitter or face book will not have any bearing on the corrupt ministers and beurocrats. We people should make them accountable for every rupee spent from the taxes we pay.
Looking at the picture, assuming this is the final design of the highway, the design is absolutely one of worst. Why can’t these engineers simply copy the design of some freeways from US or UK ? No matter how many lanes the highway may have the traffic conditions will not improve for simple reason that 99% of the drivers don’t know how to use the lanes. The state transportation department should educating drivers about the basic driving including lane discipline and maintaining safe distance between vehicles.
Authorities should educated people on line decipline. All most all the countries are implementing strict punishment or heavy fine for rules breaking. Hope bangalore to mysore new high way will be an model to other states.
We need to educate our children from now on rather than blaming the government. We also need to educate all the motorists while entering to follow lane disciplines.
All private r public vehicle whether government r quasi, political r not, drivers to be given proper instructions before entering the specified highway, about the lane discipline and speed management which he has to follow,
In case of violation of instructions such vehicle to be stopped within next five minutes which is possible with camera help and monitor. Heavy penalty to be imposed on the driver and owner of the vehicle in case they are different
It’s not the question of collection of penalty and paying it and doing mistake again but is of learning the human nature and willing ness not to trouble other commuters. Wherever necessary pedestrian should be given priority to cross the road
All new driving licence to be issued with all instructions with human touch and helping nature in neddy situation
Ppl were blaming the govt earlier for not providing good infrastructure and now when they have, they still blame. Govt has done their job, now it’s our responsibility to use it wisely.
For the ppl who still blame, you still can enjoy your ride in the old toll-free road.
Instead of spending crores for unwanted LED, just ensure the the road didn’t create rainwater puddles in the middle, create RWH systems and save water. What’s big deal monitoring lakhs of vehicles changing lane, for it cannot avoid that single accident once a while

Hello Aiyer
Still you are using the modified spelling the British created for ‘Iyer’ as Aiyer!
These days of Gowdas , Lingayats and Kurubas, and when every Mysorean /in Karnataka wants to be in a backward caste, you are brandishing a forward caste name!
The rainwater puddles are created because the road material wears out quickly because of poor quality, typical in India, and this creates shallow or some times even deep craters /pot holes causing the rainwater to fill in The highway construction contractors make crores of profit through sub-quality road material, and they know that the government has to come back to them for repairs of these pot holes , giving them further loads of money!
That is third world India, and the corruption for which which India is well known globally!
Most Indians, we meet in India or in Western countries tend to be law breakers/dishonest./corrupt to the core, and it will be no surprise if they as car drivers get away in this highway even when caught changing lanes illegally/in brash attempts Most of them when charged will have political support / corrupt police officers coming to their rescue. They will kill others through their reckless driving, which you call as accidents-they are not. This will be very frequent as this highway will get clogged up fast with massive numbers of cars, and these so called ‘accidents’ will become the norm resulting in fatalities These coupled with heavy monsoon deaths, frequent rain so called accidents, very large numbers of deaths like those occurred in the Covid-19 pandemic in India in 2021, when patients could not get oxygen supplies etc.. are the only ways of reducing this galloping population explosion in India.
ROAD IS A ROAD
BE IN YOUR LIMITS AND DRIVE SAFE
REST IS DESTINY ?
3000 cars at toll junctions for sure, so called fast tag take so long, min 1 hr waiting, Singapore 15 years back never stopped and then allowed down any car for till collection – that was the tech wonder. We are are so sick n slow.
And then same 3000 cars at both City entrance traffic signal junction.
See you all there in next 2 years !! 👍🏼
2 hrs flight journey time matches 2 hrs cab ride to reach home in Bengaluru.
Are we decongestant Bengaluru or not at all concerned about it.
My experience in all toll Hiways is that slow moving overloaded trucks run in all the lanes blocking way to cars.
What’s is the solution for this in toll Hiways?
Heavy toll tax are collected and NHAI provide patched roads. One can see the dirty humps and pot holes near many toll booths itself.
Putting high humps in toll roads is a criminal injustice. Pl. Think better instead of high humps. We pay income tax, toll tax, vehicle tax, all sorts of cess fees, etc. But what we get are dirty roads, adulterated provisions, medicine etc. Are we treated well in our own country by people who misuse their power to support corruption??
What happens when vehicles enter in Bangalore and Mysuru from express way?
Whether entry points are designed to take such traffic?
I am sure that this would be thought after few years when some vip get stuck in the traffic…….
Mysore-Bangalore 10-lane highway, license for corrupt money by allthose who run this-at the toll gates and as well the whole administration.
Corrupt third world India!
