2,211 MV Act cases, 2,437 COTPA cases, 3,197 petty cases registered

Mysuru: The City Police, in a bid to control crimes have taken up preventive steps by intensifying foot patrolling during evening and night time in city.

Under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, the City Police led by DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraju and DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi, ACPs of all Sub-Divisions, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors of all Police Stations along with their staff are conducting foot patrolling near parks, hospitals, temples, bus stops, markets and business places coming under their jurisdiction and are creating awareness about the presence of Police for their safety.

After taking charge as the City Police Commissioner, Seema Latkar has initiated various initiatives including evening foot patrolling so that the Police can be seen with the public to instil confidence among them.

During foot patrolling, the Police have registered 2,211 traffic offence cases under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, 2,437 cases under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and 3,197 petty cases, the City Police Commissioner told Star of Mysore.

The Police Commissioner said that during foot patrolling, youths, women and senior citizens will inform the Police about the problems they are facing and the suggestions given by them will help in controlling crimes and also help in detecting crimes besides getting information about anti-social elements.

“Due to the presence of Police personnel, people can walk around without fear and solutions can be found for many problems. Public will gain confidence when the Police speak to them and members of the public are sharing their opinions about people-friendly Police on social media,” City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said.
