Mysuru: An ‘Entrepreneurship Week’, a weeklong event to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students for innovation, creativity and outreach was organised by E-Cell: Prospero, at ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru.
E-Cell: Prospero is run by the students of ATME with an objective to encourage entrepreneurial spirit among budding engineers. To promote creative thinking, develop marketing and management skills, exposure to venture capitalists, convert innovation to marketable products, incubation, various activities like DISRUPT, Mad ads, Start up wars, Picturesque and Spirit E-Talk were organised.
L. Arun Kumar, Chairman, ATME College of Engineering, who was the guest of honour, shared his successful entrepreneurship journey to motivate budding engineers.
He said that he started his entrepreneurship journey with Rs.5,000 in his pocket and a simple two-wheeler and how he had to face hardship after starting his Skiltech. He said vision, self-assessment and diversity in investment is very important for an entrepreneur and this imbibed him to expand his business to sustain in market by starting firms like Techno Power Corporation, Effia technologies etc. He added, “We need to have a strong business model and idea and know about the business aspects before reaching to a venture capitalist for funding.”
Young entrepreneurs got an opportunity to interact and gain knowledge about entrepreneurship. There was an overwhelming response from the students with more than 60 teams, 400 students cumulatively participating in various events. The winners were given cash prizes.
Dr. L. Basavaraj Principal, ATME, presided. Vishwanath Shastry, Placement Officer, and E-Cell Officer, E-cell Faculty Co-ordinators, staff and students were present during the event.
