Amid ticket denial buzz, Simha vows to work for party’s sake

March 13, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Amid speculations over the possible denial of ticket this time to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election from Mysuru- Kodagu Constituency, MP Prathap Simha has softened his stance willing to work for whomsoever candidate the party fields in the elections.

Addressing the gathering after receiving felicitation from Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samithi at Patrakarthara Bhavana in the city this morning, Simha who is serving his second consecutive term as a MP said “Modi should be the PM again and will work for any candidate including the Maharaja (referring to titular head of erstwhile Mysore Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar). I am indebted to the people of Mysuru and Kodagu Constituency, which I considered as my home. With the sole aim of its full-fledged development, I have implemented several projects which yielded good points in Swachh Survekshan rankings.“

“I owe a lot to Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency and even if I die, I have initiated works that echo my name. My birth place is different, but this Constituency is both my Karmabhoomi (area of work) and Rudrabhoomi (burial land). I will complete the pending works,” assured Simha.

“There have been discussions about Lok Sabha ticket for the past seven to eight days. Everybody has a wish and when it comes to politics, leaders resort to different game plans to win the elections. I won my maiden elections on the back of Modi’s campaigning in Mysuru on Apr. 8, 2014. I won the subsequent elections (held in 2019) by a huge margin. If given the ticket to contest again, I will win by a margin of five times more than the previous election, affirmed Simha.

Earlier, Founder-Editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra K.B. Ganapathy (KBG) said “I demand that Simha be given the ticket who as an MP has enormously contributed for the development of the Constituency, unlike his predecessors. Be it Passport Seva Kendra in Mysuru or any other works, Simha has his mark on them.”

When dynasty politics evolved people were not prescient and didn’t even think of cutting its wings. Now, the dynasty of kings has begun to resurface in politics, with BJP looking for the Royals and Congress for the family dynasty to contest the elections, said KBG making an oblique reference to the developments surrounding the name of Yaduveer doing rounds as a possible BJP candidate from Mysuru-Kodagu LS Constituency replacing Simha.

President of Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samithi Mugur Nanjunda Swamy, retired Director of Gandhi Bhavan, University of Mysore, Prof. S. Shivarajappa, writer Bannur K. Raju, social worker Dr. K. Raghuram Vajpayee and others were present on the occasion.

Simha gets a call!

Prathap Simha had to abruptly stop his speech awhile as he got a call on his cell phone, while addressing the gathering at Patrakarthara Bhavana this morning. He rushed towards the computer room in Patrakarthara Bhavana and was busy over phone for about 10 minutes before returning to the dais.

It was only afterwards did Simha say “Be it anybody including the Maharaja, we will work towards ensuring the victory of the candidate in the Lok Sabha elections from Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency to make Modi PM again.”
