Mysore/Mysuru: At a time when a political churn is on at State Capital Bengaluru where officers loyal to old guard are shunted out to accommodate officers favourable to the new regime, an unknown person sitting on the chair reserved for City Police Commissioner during MCC meeting resulted in a minor confusion.
Usually, a chair is reserved for the City Police Commissioner at the meeting as he too is a part of the city administration. Yesterday, however, the City Top Cop was not present during the meeting but another person was found sitting on his chair at 11.40 am as the proceedings began.
Seeing an unfamiliar figure, officers and Corporators panicked and were speaking in hushed tones about a ‘new City Police Commissioner.’ Some of the officers went to the person and asked him who he was and the latter too responded boldly that he was a Police officer.
Taken aback, the officers rushed outside and contacted Policemen who were present there and they revealed that neither the Commissioner nor anyone representing him had come to the meeting. Later it dawned on them that the person sitting on the chair was mentally unsound. He was coaxed out of the meeting hall and was sent outside after much effort.
Later after learning about the incident, MCC Commissioner Lakshmikantha Reddy instructed his staff to keep an eye on all entrants to the meeting. He asked them to ensure that everyone produces identity cards before entering the meeting hall.
