Mysore/Mysuru: In the present scenario, construction sector will create more jobs than agricultural sector, opined Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha.

He was speaking at ‘Builders Day’ celebrations with the theme “Role of Construction in Nation-building” organised by Builders Association of India (BAI), Mysore Centre at MBCT auditorium in Vishveshwaranagar here on Saturday.

The MP said that he may be the only politician in the State who does not have any connection with real estate and added that from a Gram Panchayat member to almost all politicians have indulged in real estate business.

Pointing out that farmers are called as the backbone of the country, but construction sector was providing more jobs than agriculture sector, Simha urged the builders to work in such a way that their works would be remembered for long.

Stating that a few builders were selling one house to many people and cheating them, he said that he had caught one such builder and had handed him over to the Police. The MP urged the builders to keep vigil over such builders and prevent such frauds from taking place as public would stop believing in them.

Speaking about the ongoing 10-lane Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway works, the MP said that the 10-lane Highway would be ready by next year’s Dasara and would be thrown open for traffic. Pointing out that this is the biggest project in the country, he said that the entire cost of the project is borne by the Centre and no funds have been taken from the State Government.

Stating that the expansion of the Mysore Airport runway would be taken up soon, the MP said that at present flights to prominent places has commenced and assured that more flights to other places will start once the runway is expanded.
