Contemporary Painting Exhibition begins

June 6, 2018

Artist N. Parameshwara (3rd from right) explaining about one of his paintings on display at the Solo Painting Expo organised by the Department of Kannada & Culture at Kalamandira in city yesterday. Others seen are (from left) Ravivarma Art Institute Principal Shivakumar Kesaramadu, former Rangayana Director H. Janardhan, DCP-2 Mahaninga Nandaganvi, PA to DCP-2 Mahesh Kumar, Jayalakshmipuram Inspector Prakash and DCP (Law and Order) N. Vishnuvardhana. The expo will be open between 10 am and 6 pm today and tomorrow. The above painting is on the concept of food (organic to chemically grown). It depicts how a human turns into an animal when hungry.

Artist N. Parameshwara Speak: I mainly paint on contemporary concepts. First painting is about mobile app: Today we see how people are more glued to or dependent on their mobile phones. For example, not many people are using library books but instead download an App. Hence, Apps are replacing everything is what I wanted to convey; Second art work is on demonetisation: This idea struck me when Rs.1,000 and Rs.500 notes were demonetised to fight against black money —  I chose Zebra to indicate Black money and White money, National Flag colour to symbolise India and used the demonetised currency notes to build a tomb; Third painting is about the need to save water: Nowadays we have water scarcity everywhere. Let alone getting potable water from the wells, even the bore-wells have gone bone-dry. If we don’t realise about this burning issue at least now, we may have to find ways to drill bore-wells in the sky!
