Mysore/Mysuru: Exports will increase the country’s income along with foreign exchange and will also boost the industrial sector, said District Industries Centre (DIC) Joint Director T. Dinesh, here on Monday.

Presiding over the Export Management Training Programme, jointly organised by Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and DIC, at The President Hotel, Dinesh said that entrepreneurs should have the desire to learn about new things every day.

“The country has exported goods worth 778 million dollars and has imported goods worth 860 million dollars. Karnataka which is ranked 4th in the country in terms of exporting goods should reach top in the days to come,” he added.

Stating that the Government of India had set up Export Promotion Centre in every district, Dinesh said that there were many opportunities for setting up industries in Mysuru and added that it was important to increase the exports by 5 percent every year.

VTPC Joint Director C.S. Babu Nagesh called upon the young entrepreneurs to make use of the six-day workshop which would help in increasing the exports and also economic returns of the industries and added that the workshop would also guide the entrepreneurs to increase                       the production.

Mysore Industries Association Secretary Suresh Kumar Jain said that the construction of the building for Export Centre in Mysuru had already begun. “The goods exported from Mysuru must reach its destination safely without damages. Small Scale Industries contribute about 45 percent to the exports. We also have the currency note printing facility in Mysuru which has provided opportunities for setting up industries. Mysuru will witness the production of semi-conductors,” he said.

Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President K.B. Lingaraju said that the goods being exported should be free from chemicals and must be of good quality. “About 165 entrepreneurs in Mysuru are involved in export industry. There is a need to increase the number of exporters,” he added.
