Family feud: Man stabs wife to death

July 16, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Family feud has claimed the life of a woman, who was stabbed to death by her husband at Kumbarakoppal in the city yesterday afternoon.

While the deceased has been identified as Harshitha (21), the accused husband is 30-year-old Mahadeva of Beeramballi village in H.D. Kote taluk in the district, who has been arrested by Metagalli Police.

Harshitha was given in marriage to Mahadeva, a relative, about one-and-a-half years back and the couple were leading a happy life initially before differences in opinions cropped up among them, leading to frequent quarrels. Following this, Harshitha used to come to her parents’ home and stay there frequently.

Though their relatives and elders advised and reunited them, nothing changed between them following which Harshitha had returned to her parents home.

Mahadeva also used to visit the house of Harshitha’s parents now and then.

Yesterday, Mahadeva, who came to the house at Kumbarakoppal here, asked Harshitha to come with him. When she refused, Mahadeva allegedly stabbed her and tried to flee but was caught by Harshitha’s family members and neighbours, who handed him over to the Police.

Harshitha, who was bleeding severely was rushed to K.R. Hospital, where she succumbed to stab injuries at about 2 pm at the hospital, said Metagalli Inspector Diwakar, who has registered a case.

Accused Mahadeva was questioned and produced before a Magistrate yesterday evening, who remanded him to judicial custody. The body of Harshitha was later shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
