PM Modi’s message on Sri Birsa Munda aired; Tribal heroism in freedom struggle recalled
Mysore/Mysuru: Tribal movements in various regions of the country against British colonial rule became intertwined with the national freedom struggle, serving as an inspiration to Indians nationwide. However, these tribal heroes remain relatively unknown to the public. To address this and raise awareness about their sacrifices, the Centre has designated Nov. 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.
This date coincides with the birth anniversary of Sri Birsa Munda, revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities. The Centre has organised numerous events across the nation to celebrate and commemorate the rich history, culture and achievements of tribal people.
As part of these celebrations, an event took place this morning in Mysuru, in collaboration with State Government, to showcase the accomplishments of tribals. The event also highlighted various welfare measures undertaken by the Government of India in education, health, livelihood, infrastructure and skill development.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot inaugurated the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas at the Karnataka State Tribal Research Institute (KSTRI), Kergalli.

In a video message aired at the venue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that the nation is moving with energy of ‘Panch Praan’ to fulfil the dreams of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and millions of Janjatiya bravehearts.
