The event was inaugurated by Sabitha Monis, a specially-abled achiever and Student Welfare Officer at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodabidre in Dakshina Kannada by writing ‘All the Best’, on a white board holding the pen with her toes.

She said that though she has been deprived of hands since birth, she was looked after very well by her parents and was later encouraged by her teachers and friends which enabled her to write her exams using her toes and passing out with flying colours. She called upon all special kids to overcome their problems and show others that they can do anything what a normal person does.
Earlier, a colourful march-past was taken out by the special kids from special schools like Nireekshe, Mythri Charitable Trust, Karunamayi Foundation and All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) among other schools. The competitions were held in two categories — Higher Ability Children: 400 mts, 100 mts, 4×100 mts relay run and long jump; Lower Ability Children: 50 mts run and throw ball.
