BVB School emerges Overall Champions

Mysore/Mysuru:  As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Mysore Diocesan Educational Society (MDES), St. Joseph’s Central School, Vijayanagar, hosted Inter-High School Kannada Debate and Folk Song singing competition in city recently.

Themed “Green Campus, Clean Campus,” the event aimed at promoting environmental awareness while celebrating the richness of Kannada language and folk traditions.

Nadashri R. Bhatt from VVS B M SHRI Educational Institution stood first in debate while Mallikarjuna R. Nayaka from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB)School stood first in folk song singing competition.

With over 70 participants representing 18 prestigious schools from across Mysuru, the day-long event brought together young minds passionate about language, culture and sustainability.

The event was inaugurated by R. Manjunath, Assistant Professor, JSS Institute of Education, Kowdalli, Sakleshpur. In his keynote address, he emphasised the significance of such competitions in nurturing critical thinking, competitive spirit and cultural sensitivity among students.

“Debates shape analytical minds and folk literature builds valuable life lessons through creativity and community,” he said, urging students to participate actively in such forums for holistic growth.

Elizabeth S. Thomas, Administrative Principal of the host school, delivered the introductory address. Sebi Maveli, CEO of MDES, was the guest of honour.

Results:  Debate competition: First prize – Nadashri R. Bhatt, VVS B M SHRI Educational Institution; second – Purvika Anand, Kautilya Vidyalaya; third – M. Acchoda, Christ Public School.

Folk song competition: First prize – Mallikarjuna R. Nayaka, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School; second – P. Krithika, Anantha Geetha Vidyalaya; third – D. Nitish, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School.

Overall Championship: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School emerged as the Overall Champions, excelling in both competitions and securing the highest tally of prizes.
