Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka High Court Justice E.S. Indiresh has given a clarion call to the legal fraternity to develop a genuine thinking ability, without relying on technology, irrespective of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Google and others.
He was speaking after receiving the felicitation, organised for the alumni of Sarada Vilas Law College, Krishnamurthypuram, in city, yesterday.
Along with Justice Indiresh, Justice T.G. Shivashankare Gowda, Chairman of Karnataka State Consumer Grievances Redressal Commission and H.N. Venkatesh, Advocate and Hon. Editor of ‘Law Guide’ Kannada monthly, were also felicitated.
Justice Indiresh, who stressed on treading the path of justice in the legal profession, advised not to become the slaves of AI technology, but practice indigenous thoughts.
Listing a few qualities to be imbibed by those studying Law, Indiresh said, apart from pursuing the education, one should develop a good behaviour and desire to learn better thoughts. Besides, one should have love and faith towards his or her country, parents and alma mater, said Justice Indiresh.
Recalling the period of 1950 to 1960, Justice Indiresh asserted that, the Supreme Court Justices of those period, can be described as Saptarishis, whose judgements were deeply influenced by the Constitution. If those judgements are studied, the way of thinking is sure to change.
“Any error in Court judgement, may bring whole family to the street. Hence, the judgements should be delivered in consonance with the Constitution,” underlined Justice Indiresh.
S.L. Ramachandra, Senior Member of the Management Committee of Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions, R. Dinesh, Hon. Secretary of Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions and S. Lokesh, President of Mysore Bar Association were present during the programme.
