Former PM H.D. Deve Gowda to present Medals
Mysuru: CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, has organised an Awards Day ceremony at its IFTTC Hall on July 10 at 3 pm for the 51st batch (2015-17) students of M.Sc. (Food Technology) and ISMT courses.
Medals and certificates to passed out students, course completion certificates to passing out students of M.Sc. Food Technology course and International School of Milling Technology (ISMT) course will be awarded at the function.
H.D. Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister, will be the chief guest. Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore (UoM), will be the guest of honour. Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, will preside. Coordinator of M.Sc. Food Technology course, Dr. M.N. Shashirekha and Coordinator of ISMT course, G.H. Gangadharappa will be present.
The two-year post-graduate course of M.Sc. Food Technology was started in 1964 with the establishment of “International Food Technology Training Centre (IFTTC)” at CFTRI. This is the last batch affiliated to UoM.
From 2016 onwards, the M.Sc. (Food Technology) course is affiliated to Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi, an “Institution of National Importance” created on June 17, 2010 by a resolution of the Lok Sabha in 2010 and Government of India issued a notification on April 3, 2012 with an aim of furtherance of advancement of learning and research in the field of Science & Technology and their interfaces in association with Council of Scientific & Industrial Research(CSIR). The AcSIR was established for the purpose of granting doctoral and post-doctoral degrees.
The Institute has launched Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D in Nutritional Biology for the first time in the country in collaboration with leading Medical Institutions such as Mysore Medical College, JSS Medical College, Adichunchangiri Institute of Medical Science and Manipal University.
