Man kills daughters, hangs self

August 24, 2017

Nagamangala: Depressed over his wife having an affair, a man allegedly killed his two daughters before committing suicide at his house in Hanchinakoppal village, Honakere hobli in the taluk.

While the man has been identified as Jayaramu (45), his daughters have been identified as Sowbhagya (4) and Ashika (2).

It is learnt that Jayaramu had married Kamala, daughter of Thoregowda of Padigowdanakoppal in Nagamangala taluk and had two sons. Due to differences between them, his wife had left him and was living separately.

After being separated, Jayaramu married another woman, also named as Kamala, daughter of Karigowda, a resident of Thuppadamadu in the taluk. After leading a good life for about three years, Sowbhagya and Ashika were born to them.

In the meantime, Kamala, the second wife, developed relationship with one Ramesh and used to be chatting with him all the time, resulting in frequent quarrels between Jayaramu and Kamala.

Though the village leaders conducted a panchayat, it was of no use as Kamala continued meeting Ramesh besides threatening Jayaramu of dire consequences if he questions her again. A week ago, Kamala left her husband and daughters and went to Bengaluru. Upset over the behaviour of his wife and fearing the society, Jayaramu on Aug. 22 night, wrote a death note and killed his daughters and later hung himself.

Nagamangala Sub-Division Dy.SP Chandrashekar, Circle Inspector Dhanaraj and SI B. Chidambar, visited the spot during which they found the death note.

Bodies were shifted to Govt. Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the bodies were handed over to the relatives of Jayaramu. Nagamangala Rural Police have registered a case and are investigating.
