MLA Tanveer Sait holds review meeting

June 24, 2018

Mysuru:  Former Primary and Secondary Education Minister and newly re-elected MLA Tanveer Sait conducted a review meeting with the officials of MCC,  MUDA, CHESCom, PWD, Slum Board, Water Supply and other Departments at the PWD Guest House in Nazarbad, here yesterday.

Cut up with the way the engineers function, he asked them to be proactive by trying to identify problems the citizens face and work towards solutions rather than wait for the orders from the top to execute works.

“We do not need engineers who are lethargic and unwilling to work. I do not want such engineers working in my constituency and if they want to seek transfer they are at liberty and I will even help them to get their transfers done,” he said.

Sait revealed that he came to know of the problems people are facing related to roads, water, street-lights and other basic amenities when he went canvassing for votes during the Assembly elections as the voters shared with him many problems they were facing.

Hence, everyone, right from a Class one officer to a Group D employee, must join hands to work for the welfare of the people, he cautioned.

Referring to the work on Jodi Thenginamara Road, he said that the work had been completed up to Star of Mysore office and the portion up to Srinivasa Theatre had to be completed by identifying problem areas and rectifying them.

He asked the officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of Underground Drainage (UGD) and storm water drains in N.R. Constituency.

He said that this was very important as there were frequent complaints from the residents that when it rained, water entered their homes. Hence, proper steps should be taken to see that they do not continue to face problems during every rainy season, he warned.

Just like the 350-bed multi-speciality Jayadeva Hospital on KRS Road, a similar facility with at least 100-bed is needed in N.R. Constituency to cater to the people of the area.

He promised to get at least three to five acres of land for the purpose. “First a 50-bed hospital can be set up which can be extended to a 100-bed one later. I will also get 10 scanning machines from philanthropists,” he said and added that Primary Health Care centres must be upgraded by the  Health Department.

There are 153 houses built by the Slum Board which are in weak condition in Gandhinagar and they have to be demolished and if the Board is not able to maintain them, it must be handed over to the MCC, he said.

He regretted that there was lack of coordination between various Departments and said that one way to solve the issue was to have a Nodal Officer.

He called for the development of the road from Columbia Asia Hospital which is a one way to make it two ways and put traffic signals at Millennium Circle, Tipu Circle and Fountain Circle.

Good to see Mr. Sait proactive after sensing heat of voters in recent elections. If he had this vision in last term when congress was in power and when he had a cabinet rank entire NR face would have been changed till now and he would have won with more than 50000 votes.
    “Better late than never”
Develops NR like other constituency, utilize funds to maximum, get people into confidence this can happen only if you visit wards and understand realistic problems, fight to get things done. Be pro people I am sure no one can defeat Sait in NR constituency in this era.
