Mysuru/Mysore: Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised a befitting Musical Tribute to Legendary Violin Maestro Parur M. S. Gopalakrishnan (MSG) on Jan. 10 (Friday) at 6 pm at the Sabha premises on JLB Road, Mysuru.
The grand vocal concert, sponsored by Vid. H.K. Narasimha Murthy, will be presented by Vid. Abhishek Raghuram accompanied by Vid. H.N. Bhaskar on violin, Vid. Arjun Kumar on mridanga and G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.
Abhishek Raghuram hails from a musical family and is the grandson of none other than Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Palakkad Raghu, the eminent Mridanga Vidwan on the paternal side and the grandson of Lalgudi Rajalakshmi on the maternal side.
He started his Karnatak music training first on the mridanga from his grandfather. This certainly fostered an early sense of rhythm and its intricacies in him. Following this, he started to take vocal lessons from Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kala Acharya P.S. Narayanaswamy. Abhishek is a proficient Kanjira performer as well having had the honour of learning under a genius of our times, the late G. Harishankar and has accompanied alongside mridanga maestros like his grandfather and other stalwarts. He gave his first performance at the age of nine and is already a recipient of many awards at this young age.
