Mysore Airport infra works in full swing

  • To facilitate expansion of runway to handle bigger flights
  • Budget allocation expected as CM has assured grants, says MP

Mysore/Mysuru: Works are going on in full swing to level the areas around the existing runway of the Mysore Airport at Mandakalli and these capacity increasing works will facilitate the proposed runway expansion for bigger flights to land. The existing three parking bases have been increased to five and the runway safety area has been widened.

According to the nature of works as specified by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), up to 140 metres of both sides of the runway should be level and must not have land gradients. Plus, water should not stagnate. The levelling works are being done following AAI guidelines.

The AAI guidelines come after several incidents that have been reported in the recent past where planes while landing have veered off the runway scaring passengers and also leading to accidents. Both sides of the runway are levelled off so that even if the plane veers off during landing or take-off, it will be safe, says the guidelines.

Mysore Airport Director R. Manjunath told Star of Mysore this morning that earth movers are being used to level 140 metres on both sides of the runway. “We decided to take up the work with two intentions. One, to follow the AAI guidelines and second, we thought as the talks about expansion are gathering wings, instead of doing the levelling works only after the runway expansion is cleared, we decided to use the spare time now to do the same. The works undertaken now will facilitate speedy expansion,” he explained.

More green space:  The entire surroundings of the runway is being levelled, especially the part near the Mysuru-Nanjangud Highway that had a steep gradient. Even this area has been levelled off after clearing wild growth. Systematic landscaping of gardens will be the next scope of work and greenery will be increased for more visual appeal, Manjunath added.  There was an old building that was operational years ago before the new building and the Air Traffic Control systems were established. This building has been demolished and the area has been levelled off, Manjunath said. Other works include wall-to-wall grading, increasing the terminal seating capacity and augmenting infrastructure at goods terminal, he said.

Kindly let us know about the status of land acquisition for runway expansion and when the work will be taken up for under pass on NH

Notice also the projects for Kerala-Mysuru rail and road links.
Malayalees, who do roaring business in gold smuggling from Gulf States and fake designer goods there, are coming in massive numbers to settle in Mysuru and surrounding towns and villages.
Mandakalli airport then will be expanded fast to take Jet Liners like Emirates.
Mysuru is earmarked for Gulf States expatriates, the Malayalees, most of them are Muslims to lunder their ill-gotten wealth.

Mysore needs a well developed airport with direct international connectivity for its growth and our M P Mr. Prathap Simha has been chasing its development ever since he took over his office. Let us hope he succeeds in fighting all odds in putting Mysore in the path of a big development.. A big salute to our beloved MP

  5. K Sridhar says:

While it is laudable to develop and improve the Mysore airport for bigger aircrafts to land, it is rediculous for the local MP to push for railway connectivity to Madikeri. Coorg has already witnessed huge landslides during the monsoon and the whole area in the Western Ghats is a highly ecologically sensitive area. Bad enough that while there is already a NH from Mysore to Madikeri, there is move to lay a parallel road which entails land aquisition of fertile farm areas. Building railway lines to this area will only result in more disasters. People of Coorg and Mysore must come together and resist and fight against this foolhardy railway project.

Just Google, Dr M M Poulose, and you will find out that he is an opthalmologist ( eye doctor), YES , from Kerala.
If have not believed me about Malayalees who are indulging in gold smuggling and fake designer goods business in the Gulf States, swamping Mysuru and surrounding towns and villages, and establishing direct flights to Gulf States ,just read what this Dr M M Poulose has said above.
He says’ Mysuru needs a well developed airport with international connectivity’, meaning helping his Malayalee friends who are in ‘business in Gulf States’ to have direct link to Dubai, Qatar, Muscat and Doha etc.. He praises a fellow villain Simha the MP, who wants to have a slice of this cake, having destroyed Mysuru with Piped Natural Gas digging all over.
Malayalees have migrated in huge numbers to that last place which has natural beauty-the North of New Zealand, and are in the process of destroying that patch of land too.

  7. Gautam says:

    Hello SOM readers
If Mandakalli Airport is developed to receive international jetliners, it will not be the services run by British Airways, Virgin, AA, Quantas,Air France etc..that Kempegowda Airport Bengaluru receives, but it will be more like shorter haul flights connecting Mysuru to the Gulf Countries.
I agree with @Gusto that Having exhausted the maximum connectivity in the Gulf Region through the airports in Kerala, Keralites like the above Dr M M Poulose is hoping to the expansion of this Mandakalli Airport, from where linking to Kerala through the border is easy.
This man has the temerity to get involved in affairs of Mysuru.
Wesa the beutiful pictorial representation of Mysuru, produced in another article in the SOM. You will lose that Mysuru.
Mysuru will not merely go on the way like Bengaluru, but will be a satellite city to Keralites, Start learning Malayalam ,as it will be the predominant language of Mysuru in the near future, if you are not careful.

  8. Gautham says:

Gusto.. Your analysis is bang on target. Totally agree with your opinion.

  9. Karnataka Desha Premi says:

I completely agree with Gusto and Gautam. The influx of Malayalees – mainly muslims and christians – is already under way. In a matter of few years Malaylees will out number kodavas! Remember that minister George? He is a malayalee who moved to Kodagu! Bangalore is seeing an influx of Northies, Andhras, and tamils in great number. Will Karnataka survive as a State or become part of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala? Stop expanding Mysore Airport, no rail link to Kerala or Madekeri. Stop pandering to these invaders. Push them back. Remember, Loyal World is owned by a Kerala Muslim. Boycott it! It is time Kannadigas woke up take back our state before it is too late.
