Mysuru DC Dr. Rajendra addresses industrial workers and safety stakeholders at Kalamandira 

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra said that all industries must follow safety protocols and ensure that all safety measures are in place.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the stage programme of 52nd National Safety Day organised by Department of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety and Health, at Kalamandira here this morning.

Pointing out that Mysuru has many industries, he said that the city and district is expected to grow into a major manufacturing hub with improved infrastructure in the coming days. “This year the National Safety Day is being observed with the theme ‘Our Aim – Zero Harm.’ The main goal of the day is to highlight the safety measures and ensure that the workforce and people are aware of them and follow them in order to avoid workplace accidents or mishaps,”  he noted.

Stating that it is mandatory for all factories to follow safety protocols, the DC said that at the same time it is mandatory for the workforce to wear safety equipment and other protective gears. Following safety protocols as laid out by the Factories Department will help in preventing work-spot accidents or atleast limit the extent to the minimum possible in case of a mishap.

Highlighting the objectives of the Safety Day, the DC said that it is also aimed to raise awareness about road safety, human health safety and environmental safety protocols.

Open voter awareness counter at factories

Making a reference to the oncoming Assembly polls, the DC said that the percentage of voting in the city is considerably low as per the available past statistics. Underlining the role of Industries in enhancing poll percentage, he stressed on the importance of sensitising every factory worker on the need for exercising their franchise as every vote matters in a democratic set up.

He asked industries, factories and other commercial establishments to open an exclusive counter to educate and guide the staff in taking part in the electoral process.

About 6 stalls displayed safety protocols and procedures and safety equipment, protective gears, their  manufacturers etc., at the venue.

Safety rally

Earlier, a rally of over a 1,000 industrial workers, other workforce and school children, was taken out from Kote Anjaneysaswamy temple to Kalamandira as part of the National Safety Day. Devaraja Police Station PSI Jayakeerthi flagged off the rally.
