Mysore/Mysuru: With the Election Commission facilitating postal ballots for all poll duty personnel, Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, who is also the District Electoral Officer, in a press release, has stressed on the need for effective postal ballot management to ensure that no voter is left behind.

Pointing out that it is the responsibility of the respective Returning Officers to ensure that all poll officials and other staff deputed for poll duty elsewhere, Booth Level Officers and personnel, Police Department staff, KSRTC drivers, conductors and other staff, service voters etc., exercise their franchise by using the postal ballot facility,  Dr. Rajendra said that a Gazetted Officer will be appointed as the Nodal Officer for postal ballots.

A Gazetted Officer will be appointed as the exclusive Nodal Officer in the City Police Commissioner’s Office, the Office of Mysuru  Superintendent of Police, Chief Jail Superintendent, Mysuru, KSRTC Urban/Rural Divisional Offices etc., for handling postal ballots, he noted.

Training for poll staff on Apr.22 and 23

Continuing, the DC said that a two-day training programme has been organised for poll officials and staff of all the 11 Assembly segments of the district on Apr.22 and 23 in the respective Assembly Constituencies. Pointing out that a Help Desk for postal ballots would be set up in all the training centres, he said that postal ballot application forms (Form-12) will be issued to the Returning Officers along with the list of all poll officials and staff deputed for election duty, Booth Officers, vehicle drivers, photographers, videographers and the serial number of the Assembly segment, Part number of electoral rolls, Voter ID card number etc., during the two-day training programme.

If the polling officers taking part in the training programme are from outside districts, then they should fill up Form-12 along with the order copy assigning them for poll duty and Voter ID card number. Subsequently, the postal ballot Nodal Officers should segregate Assembly Constituency-wise Form-12 that are to be dispatched to outside districts and send the same to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

The DC also sought the co-operation of all poll officials in ensuring that the ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’ initiative of the Election Commission of India is a total success. Training centres in respect of city Constituencies are as follows:
