Mysuru: “We are not anti-Hindu religion but we are against Hindutva, which opposes equality,” said Prof. B.P. Mahesh Chandra Guru of Mysore University.
He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on “Hindutva versus Bharatiya Samvidhana” organised by Karnataka State Progressive Thinkers Forum at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here recently.
While the aim of the Constitution is that everybody should get an equal share and everyone is equal, the Hindutva forces represent oppression.
Narendra Modi after he became the Prime Minister said that he could become the PM though he came from ‘Ganiga’ community and the Constitution was responsible for his elevation. However, in the later days all his actions showed that he is anti-Constitution, the Professor alleged.
Swaraj India Party leader Prof. Shabir Mustafa said that in the 1990s, a Supreme Court Judge Justice J.S. Varma had given a verdict using the Hindutva argument that “Hindutva argument is not against the Constitution. It is an Indian way of life.” This was the first victory to the Hindutva proponents. The time has come to once again look at the verdict.
Sri Urilinga Peddi Mutt Seer Sri Jnanaprakash Swamiji, who graced the occasion, said that while the Indian Constitution builds the nation, Hinduvta splits it. There is a conspiracy going on in the country today in the name of Hindutva by trying to quote an unwritten Constitution, he charged.
