Mysuru: Making an indirect reference to former University of Mysore (UoM) and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa, who is also the JD(S) candidate from Chamaraja Constituency, MLA Vasu has said that he was not so big to talk about ‘knowledgeable people.’
Speaking to press persons at Jaladarshini Guest House here yesterday, Vasu maintained that he had done his best as an MLA for the past five years.
Stating that he had no black spot as MLA from Chamaraja constituency, Vasu said he grew up politically from the grassroot level.
Stating that he lost two times to H.S. Shankaralingegowda, Vasu said that he did not speak ill of the victor or the defeated whenever he won or lost elections.
Claiming that 4.5 lakh students were affected by KSOU row, Vasu in an indirect reference to Prof. Rangappa, said that only the ‘Knowledgeable people’ should react on the plight of the KSOU students.
Pointing out that MP and former CM Dr. M. Veerappa Moily during a recent press meet had blamed a former VC while not mentioning his name for the KSOU row, Vasu wondered why Prof. Rangappa should react to Moily’s remark when he (Moily) had not named anyone.
Listing his achievements as an MLA, Vasu said it was left to the people to compare his work with that of the previous MLAs elected from the constituency.
One needs to appreciate the humility of MLA Vasu when he states that he is not big enough to speak about knowledgeable people. I had opportunity to interact with MLA Vasu on several occasions and I was impressed with his way of dealing with common as well as influential people. I cannot claim to know many projects on which MLA Vasu has worked on and I am sure there is also an equally a list of projects he should have worked on. However for one I give him the highest mark is his perseverance to solve city’s sewage problem. This is not a glamorous problem like solving KSOU issue. However when sewage enters the residences one realizes how important it is. The fact Vasu has been working on it may not be even known to many in the city. The reason I came to know is he was asking MGP to help him get the signatures for a petition to be submitted to the legislative body to sanction money. He was very knowledgeable about the sewage problem and had studied well as if he is a civil engineer. Another project where he tried to help the city was saving people’s park. He had collected a lot of information on the illegalities of the construction of the library in people’s park and MGP was able to get access to it. Unfortunately neither MGP nor Vasu has succeeded in preventing its construction. May be they would succeed in its demolition just like the illegal structure in Cheluvamba in violation of Karnataka’s Park act.
He is a proactive MLA and simple man available for all with out any attitude. Which is rare now a days!!
I met him in one wedding he just came as a common man with his son, without any chamchas around him, I just had a chat for 5 minutes, he spoke very polite with gratitude.
It is rare in now a days politicians
