Obstruction to perform official duty: Chamundi Hill PDO lodges complaint against five persons

October 3, 2021

Mysuru: Krishnaraja (KR) Police have filed criminal cases against five persons including Chamundi Hill Gram Panchayat (GP)  Vice-President Tulasi and her husband Puttaraju on charges of obstructing a Government servant from performing duty. Inspector Mahadevaswamy has filed a criminal case following a complaint from Chamundi Hill Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) M. Poornima on Sept. 6.

In her complaint, PDO Poornima has stated that on Sept. 6, a few villagers of Tavarekatte had called her over the phone and informed that one Ramaraju was illegally constructing a commercial building at Tavarekatte and urged her to take action.

But when the PDO, along with her staff went to the spot, she found the construction was going on and found Chamundi Hill Gram Panchayat Vice-President Tulasi, her husband Puttaraju, building owner Ramaraju, his son Nandeesh and the person, who had taken the construction contract and issued a notice.

The complaint further states that the above persons, who were at the spot refused to take the notice and told her that Tavarekatte comes under Survey No. 4 and she (PDO) had no rights to come to the place and issue a notice.

She further stated that though Puttaraju was not an elected representative, he was misusing his wife’s powers and alleged that Puttaraju threatened of writing to the higher authorities against her besides asking her to do what she wants and they would not stop the construction work.

The complaint also stated that the PDO has urged the Police to register the complaint as she was threatened with life.

Following the complaint from the PDO, the Police have filed a criminal case against the five persons.
