Akhtar Banu (84), a resident of Udayagiri, passed away yesterday in city. She leaves behind son Dr. Abdul Ravoof, President of Muslim Co-Operative Bank on New Sayyaji Rao Road, two daughters and a host of relatives and friends. Namaz-e-Janaza and burial took place at the Muslim Burial Grounds today, according to family sources.

Dr. R. Srinivas, an Anaesthetist serving at the District Hospital, Mysuru, has been appointed as District Community Service Commissioner of Scouts and Guides. Dr. Srinivas, who is an ex-servicemen, had previously served at Indian Navy Hospitals in Mumbai, Goa, Karwar, Kochi, Visakhapatnam and Odisha, according to Chief Scouts and Guides Commissioner M.N. Shadakshari.
