The event is in aid of ‘Girl Children atop Chamundi Hill’ under the aegis of Rotary Ivory City Mysuru
Mysuru: V.N. Prasad & Troupe have gained eminence over the decades in the city of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and surrounding regions with their exceptional skills and performance levels. Most of their programmes are in support of ‘Community Service Projects.’
Prasad, a Rotarian in the last 32 years, has consistently helped young singers of Mysuru, offered the much-needed encouragement, given them big platforms to exhibit their talent and pruned their singing careers.
On Feb. 23 (Sunday), V.N. Prasad’s troupe is all set to render an iconic programme titled ‘PBS-SPB Nite’ (P.B. Srinivas-S.P. Balasubramanyam Nite) at Kalamandira in Mysuru, commencing at 6 pm sharp.
The programme is to improve the educational centre of ‘Sarvajanika High School’ atop Chamundi Hill, commenced and nurtured by the great philanthropist late T.S. Subbanna.

Subbanna lived a part of his life in Sabarmati Ashram, with Mahatma Gandhi. Later, he shifted to Mysuru with an ambition to set up educational institution and hostel for the ‘Economically Weak and Underprivileged Children.’
The main centre is located at Vidyaranyapuram. The one atop Chamundi Hill has around 60 ‘Girl Children’ with boarding and lodging facilities. They need more facilities for a better living and learning environment.
Rotary Ivory City Mysuru has already provided clean bathrooms, toilets, drinking water and educational support to the school. Currently, the school is being provided with a secure compound wall and iron gates, to ensure the safety of girls from intruders, causing insecurity in the girl students.
What better than a ‘PBS-SPB Musical Nite’ to invite all the patrons from the city of Mysuru. Our citizens have helped our causes at all the times. This programme is to participate and donate generously for the worthy cause.
The troupe comprises Dr. M.S. Natashekar, an eminent ENT Surgeon, long associated with ‘Geeth Gaatha Chal,’ Thyagaraj, a popular professional singer; Jayanthi Bhat, a retd. (Voluntary) Officer of the SBI. She is now pursuing music passionately; Hamsini Kumar, an Officer in Southern Railways, who has the credit of participating in ‘Zee TV Music Competitions,’ anchored by the legendary late SPB; Ruthvik Raj, a budding playback singer and an Engineering student, having recorded a couple of filmi numbers. This team of eminent singers is led by V.N. Prasad — the 73-year-old singer — with sheer passion to perform and entertain the Mysureans.
The programme will be anchored by Shanti Bharadwaj, an erudite and flawless Kannada-speaking Mysurean with abundant experience in the ladies wing of the Builders Association of India, Mysuru, called ‘Spoorthi.’
The programme comprises extremely well-composed, deep emotional lyrics by stalwarts like Vijaya Bhaskar, Ranga Rao, Rajan Nagendra, Chi. Udayashankar, Ilayaraja etc. and soulfully sung by P.B. Srinivas, S.P. Balasubramanyam, P. Susheela, S.
