Mysore/Mysuru: In an effort to boost voter turnout for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, members of the historic Police Band are actively encouraging residents of Mysuru to participate in the democratic process.

The Police Band personnel, including both the English and Karnataka Bands, showcased their musical talents at an open area in front of the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple recently, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of voting.

The event was jointly organised by the District Administration, Mysuru City Corporation and the District SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) initiative.

Dressed in their distinctive ceremonial attire adorned with headgear and emblazoned with brand logos, the Bands, comprising a total of 55 personnel, captivated the audience and passersby with  their performances.

Bandmaster Manjunath led the English Band, while Bandmaster M.R. Hanumantharaju led the Karnataka Band, adding flair and energy to the event.

Hanumantharaju highlighted that while the Band entertained the audience with tunes on various themes, they also conveyed subtle messages aimed at encouraging the people of the city to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming elections.

This marks the first instance in the history of the Police Band where, through the medium of music, a concerted effort has been made to raise awareness about the significance of each individual vote.

Interestingly, apart from the regular compositions like “Jai Ho”, “Vathapi Ganapathim” and “Sri Ganapathi”, the election song compiled by the District authorities too was played.
