Mysore/Mysuru: Activists of Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike, a pro-Kannada organisation met City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh on Sept. 21 and submitted a memorandum to address parking woes on prominent city roads, menace of drunkards at parks and transgenders at traffic signals in city.

The traders having shops on Devaraj Urs Road, Sayyaji Rao Road and Ashoka Road in city park their cars from 10 am to 9 pm, leaving no space for the public to park their cars, thus aggravating the parking issue, Vedike members said.

During evening hours, the menace of drunkards and drug addicts are on the rise at parks. They resort to eve teasing and abuse women, following which women are scared to go for evening walks.

The incidents of blackmailing boys and girls and who spend time at parks and extorting money from them have become common, they alleged.

 Though Police patrolling vehicles are on the move, the miscreants indulge in such activities, once the Police go out of sight.  Such issues are increasing in many parks across the city, Vedike members alleged.

Also, transgenders trouble public waiting in cars and scooters at a few traffic signals in city and motorists are abused by them if they are not given money, the activists said urging the Police Commissioner to come to the rescue of public.

Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike President Manjunath (Milk Manju), General Secretary V. Giridhar, Secretary Manjunath, Vedike mentor Mohnankumar,  Kurubarahalli Prakash, Yogesh, Advocate Shivaraj, Sundar and Rangappa Gowda were present.
