Rave Party: Yelwal PSI, HCs suspended for dereliction of duty

October 1, 2024

Mysuru: Mysuru District Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Vishnuvardhana has issued an order suspending Yelwal Sub-Inspector (SI) M. Manjunatha Nayaka, Special Branch Head Constable (HC) Narayana and Head Constable Nanjunde Raje Urs, who was responsible for conducting patrolling, on charges of negligence and dereliction of duty. Though the rave party was organised in a big way, the SI had stated that he had no information about the rave party.

The order issued yesterday stated that though the party was organised in Yelwal Police jurisdiction by erecting a tent, installing a generator for DJ music, over 150 people partying the whole night, it is negligent on the part of the SI to state that he had no information about it, which amounts to dereliction of duty.

Hence, three personnel including SI Manjunatha, have been suspended pending departmental enquiry.

The SP has further stated in the order that the Special Branch HC Narayana, who is supposed to have connection with villagers to collect secret information about meetings, functions, group discussions, political development, protests and anti-social activities, to maintain law and order situation and prevent such incidents from taking place, he had displayed negligence.

In the same way, if HC Nanjunda Raje Urs, who was responsible to conduct night patrolling, had taken a little interest, he would have come to know about the party being organised and informed his higher officers, who would have stopped the party from being held, SP Vishnuvardhana has stated in the order.

Investigation intensified

Meanwhile, Yelwal Police have intensified their investigation and are questioning those taken into custody by them. The Cops are collecting information whether such party was organised at the open field between Meenakshipura and Yadahalli villages on Saturday night.

Local villagers Shankar and Arjun are said to have played an important role in organising the party. The field was levelled using a bulldozer and a new road was made. The Cops are collecting information about who had got the bulldozer to the spot, owner of the machine, owner of the generator and who had ordered for the installation of German Tents.

Investigating Officers, who have identified the owners of vehicles, which had ferried the people to the party, through the registration number plates of vehicles, are now trying to find out about those who had supplied liquor, tobacco products and intoxication substances.

The Police also visited surrounding villages and are collecting information from the residents whether they heard DJ music or people screaming and shouting, if such parties were held earlier.

Cases have been registered against those taken into custody and the Police are on the lookout for those who had escaped when the raid took place.

Farmer leader accuses failure on the part of Police, Excise Department

Karnataka State Farmers Association (Farmer faction) State President E.N. Krishnegowda Ingalaguppe has alleged failure on the part of Police and the Excise Department, which had led to the party being organised near Meenakshipura in KRS backwaters. Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, Krishnegowda said that lakhs of people are arriving to city on the occasion of Dasara, but the rave party has made our heads bow down.

Accusing that co-operation of various Departments had led to such a party, he questioned the inefficiency of the Intelligence Department and said that the State Government and the District Administration should take this case seriously and initiate legal action against the offenders.
