Bhanuvaara Sanje Geleyara Balaga has organised a Karnatak classical flute concert by well-known flautist Vidwan Mysore V. Vamshidhar, in memory of noted art critic S.R. Krishnamurthy on Dec. 21 at 6 pm at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha’s Vasudevacharya Auditorium, JLB Road, Mysuru.
Profile: Vidwan Mysore Venkatesh Vamshidhar is an A grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He belongs to a family of musical legends with a rich cultural background. Grandson and disciple of Flute Maestro Vidwan V. Desikachar, a flautist par excellence, he had his initial training in Karnatak Music from his grandfather and presently trained by his uncle Vidwan D. Balakrishna, a luminary Veena Vidwan of our country.
On Dec. 21, he will be accompanied by Vid. B.K. Raghu on violin, Vid. Anirudh Bhat on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik on ghata.
Vidwan B.K. Raghu, an A graded artiste of AIR, Bangalore, started learning violin at a tender age of 8 and Karnatak classical music on violin from gurus Vidushi D. Sushma Rao, Vidushi D. Suryaprabha, Vidwan B.U. Ganesh Prasad and Vidushi Neela Ramgopal.
Vidwan Anirudh Bhat, who is also an A grade artist of AIR and Dooradarshan, started learning mridanga at the age of 12 under the tutelage of Vid. M.V. Mohan and currently pursuing advanced training under mridanga maestro Vidwan K.U. Jayachandra Rao. Anirudh Bhat has accompanied many stalwarts on mridanga.
Vidwan Sharath Koushik is one of the most promising young ghata artistes and a B high grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He started learning mridanga from well-known senior mridangist of Mysuru Vidwan V.S. Ramesh and later continued training from highly accomplished mridangist Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar and under his guidance got the privilege of learning ghata as well.
This will be BHASANGE Balaga’s 87th monthly programme. Entry for the concert is free for all music lovers.
