Mysuru/Mysore: The second day of the ongoing Children’s Theatre Festival at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here last evening, under the aegis of Sanchalana, Mysuru, Department of Kannada and Culture and Karnataka Balavikasa Academy, Dharwad, featured the play ‘Hidimbana Thota’ by students of Udayaravi Trust, K.R. Pet.
Students of Sri Gurukula Shaale rendered theatre songs.
Speaking on the occasion, former Speaker Krishna opined that theatre is the best medium to create awareness among people on social issues.
He recalled that during yesteryears issues in rural areas were portrayed through street plays to draw the attention of the administrators.
He appreciated child artistes conveying social messages through plays. He appealed theatre groups to encourage children to take part in theatre activities.
K.R. Pet Welfare Association President D.R. Venkatesh, Teacher Anchi Sannaswamigowda, Contractor S.L. Mohan, Theatre Artiste K.J. Narayana Kikkeri, Deepak of Sanchalana and others were present.
