December 27, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Several organisations staged separate protests against various issues in city this morning.

Members of Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike, who staged a protest at Gandhi Square, alleged that members of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES)and Shiv Sena, who burnt Kannada flags, damaged the statue of patriot Sangolli Rayanna and also torched Karnataka vehicles, were testing the patience of Kannadigas. They demanded a complete ban on MES and Shiv Sena in Karnataka.

Members of Kannada Seva Balaga, led by Balaga Convenor Ravi Seegalli, too condemned damage to the statue of Sangolli Rayanna, burning of Kannada flags and blackening the portrait of Basavanna and staged a protest at Kannada Circle on Ring Road in   Vijayanagar 4th Stage.

The Guest Lecturers of Government First Grade Colleges, who are on an indefinite stir since Dec.10 seeking regularisation of services and job security, continued their protest today also. Meanwhile, about 100 students, under the banner of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), staged a separate protest in support of Guest Lecturers near DC’s Office this morning.

AIDSO District President Subash said that Guest Lecturers in the State were in a bad situation as they are still working on temporary basis despite serving since many years. Stating that the Guest Lecturers had taken and are still taking a lot of efforts for the students to excel in their academics, he said that their salaries are not fixed, which is taking toll of their family and personal life.

The protesting students urged the authorities concerned to take steps to regularise the jobs of Guest Lecturers and provide justice to them.
