Slew of protests staged in city

June 24, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: The city witnessed a slew of protests this morning as many organisations staged demonstrations at various venues for different reasons.

Samyukta Horata Samithi

Samyukta Horata Samithi, Mysuru Division Committee, staged a protest in front of  Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office as part of its nationwide protest against the Centre’s Agnipath military recruitment scheme.  The nationwide protests are being held following a call by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.

The protestors claimed that the scheme is completely opposite to the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ and said that the scheme will crush the country’s security and also the dreams of unemployed youths.

To cut down the Government’s massive salary and pension bills and free up funds for arms procurement, the Government has taken a wrong decision, the protestors added.

The Samithi members submitted a memorandum at the DC Office to be forwarded to the President of India to roll back the scheme.

Samithi leaders Algudu Shivakumar, Saragur Nataraju, Farmer Association members P. Marankaiah, Mandakalli Mahesh and others were present.
