Just two days back I was going for an evening stroll in Kukkarahalli Kere. All of a sudden it started raining and I was taking shelter in a nearby place. In the meanwhile some foreigners came drenching in the rain and were also taking shelter in that place.
When the rain continued to lash for some time, I saw one lady smoking. Immediately I went to her and told her not to smoke as it is prohibited in this area. For a while she was surprised. Later on she realised her mistake and snubbed the cigarette.
Now my question to the authorities concerned is that are the foreigners not aware that this area is no smoking zone or is this rule not strictly followed by the strollers? Don’t they know the consequences of smoking in Kukkarahalli Lake? If the dry leaves spread all over the place catches fire it may endanger the life of public as well as other species living in that area.
I appeal the authorities concerned to create awareness in the minds of general public, the foreigners in particular by installing sign boards at regular intervals stating that “Smoking is strictly prohibited in this area.”
