Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the 34th Aradhana Mahotsav of Sri Purandara-Tyagaraja, city’s Surabhi Gana Kala Mandira has organised a two-day music festival on Feb. 15 and 16 at Sri Prasanna Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa, V.V. Mohalla. As part of the festival, Art patron K.V. Murthy will be felicitated.
Feb. 15: At 10.30 am, the disciples of Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar will present rare pieces of all varieties of musical compositions, starting from Geethe, Jathiswara to Padam and Vachana; at 6.30 pm, a special musical composition, ‘Nagama’ will be presented using many instruments like veena, violin, flute, saxophone, mridanga, ghata and morching, under the direction of Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar.
Feb. 16: Group rendition of Purandara Navarathna krithis at 8 am, followed by Goshti Gaayana of Tyagaraja’s Pancharathna krithis. At 10 am, Kala Sevarathna K.V. Murthy, Art-patron and Industrialist, will be felicitated. At 10.30 am, Karnatak Classical Vocal concert by Vidwan Sikkil Gurucharan of Chennai, accompanied by Vidwan B.K. Raghu on violin, Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vidwan G.S. Ramanujan on ghata, according to a press release.
