Mysore/Mysuru: Observing that most of the Universities of the State were facing shortage of teaching faculty, University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar said that though the number of students was increasing with every year, the faculty shortage is hindering academic activities.
He was speaking at the felicitation programme of Vijayapura’s Akkamahadevi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.K. Tulasimala organised by the UoM’s Economics and Co-operation Department at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri campus here recently.
Pointing out that hard work and dedication is key for success and achievement in life, Prof. Hemantha Kumar stressed on the need for practicing discipline in life.
Maintaining that those with discipline and dedication alone can achieve great things in their chosen field, he said that Prof. Tulasimala had served the UoM for over 30 years. Now she has been serving Akkamahadevi University as its head for the past two years, he said adding that Prof. Tulasimala was a vociferous reader, which had catapulted her to this top position.
Prof. B.K. Tulasimala and Ramesh Tikoti couple were felicitated on the occasion.
Also, a 17-minute video documentary on the life and achievements of Prof. Tulasimala was screened.
Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Post-Graduate Centre Director Prof. C.K. Renukarya, UoM Economics and Co-operation Department Head Prof. Mahesh and others were present.
