Rs. 41 lakh CSR initiative by Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited

Mysuru:  The facelift and beautification work in Kalamandira, which reflects the cultural ethos of the city continues as more and more additions are taking place in this verdant lung space.

Kalamandira is the abode of art where every day one or the other cultural activities keep taking place thus drawing the public to most of the events, be it drama, dance, music or other public events. In the light of so much happening, the place gets spruced up and this time there is a beautiful garden (apart from the heritage garden) coming up as also a hexagonal stone pergola, besides one more  pergola at the entrance.

The work is being taken up under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited at a cost of Rs.41 lakh and it is likely to be completed before June 1.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Hanur Chennappa said that in order to enhance the beauty of Kalamandira a garden and pergolas are being built. In the centre of the garden an attractive pergola and another one at the entrance is also being constructed.

The main reason is to make the place an attractive experience for the people who come to Kalamandira premises that such efforts are on. Also opposite the Kiru Rangamandira, a concrete road and interlocking facility for the gate are also being planned, he said.

In the second stage of the work, plans are afoot to install stone lamp posts and the air will be filled with music as one enters the Kalamandira premises. These are some of the new experiences planned, he said.

The works commenced on Apr.8 but due to the Poll Model Code of Conduct, the pace of work was stalled. The works will be completed in the next three months, he added.
