‘Swachha Bhanuvara – Hasiru  Bhanuvara’ campaign held at Ward No.53

Mysuru: Krishnaraja MLA S.A. Ramdas took up ‘Swachha Bhanuvara – Hasiru Bhanuvara’ (Clean Sunday – Green Sunday) campaign at residential areas of Ward No.53 in city on Sunday last as part of Swachh Bharat Mission.

He took up the campaign with the support of Pourakarmikas, members of various people- friendly organisations and public at various streets of Siddartha Layout, CITB Choultry and surrounding areas in the Ward.

The MLA remembered the contributions of late former Union Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar, who began  the ‘Clean and Green Sunday’ campaign, a first of its kind in Karnataka State and successfully conducted 157  Sunday campaigns.

This campaign was launched with main idea to spread the importance of health and sanitation to people besides planting saplings in the parks to increase greenery. It also aims at sensitising the public to keep their surroundings clean by disposing the garbage generated in their houses and   Wards scientifically.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that locations have been identified in various areas of Krishnaraja Assembly segment for massive tree plantation and he had already held one round of discussion with Botany Department of University of Mysore, Horticulture and Social Forestry Department to ensure the supply of saplings.

Envisioned to develop city free from pollution

Stating that he was committed to make the city pollution-free, the MLA said, 10 youths would be selected from every Ward to make this mission successful.

Reacting to the complaints of setting fire to garbage accumulated in the premises of CITB Choultry, Ramdas said he already had telephonic  discussion with MUDA Commissioner to avert such activities and also suggested him to come up with programmes to convert these garbage into manure.

The MLA also inspected the under-construction Women Training Bhavan and directed the concerned Zonal Commissioner of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) to expedite the work for public use.

To the public complaints of rain water from Mysuru Zoo and Karanji Lake entering the houses in the low-lying areas of Siddarathanagar, the MLA assured to find a permanent solution  after holding a meeting with officials concerned in a month.
