Dr. C.D. Sreenivas Murthy’s (CDS) review in yesterday’s Star of Mysore about the book “Tears of the Begums” by Rana Safvi was a most interesting synopsis of a book that makes very sad but very interesting reading.

He  has chosen to highlight a few of the best stories from the book, which I am sure will now urge a great many people to procure and read Safvi’s book.

Being a fellow doctor who keeps meeting him every now and then at our Continuing Medical Education (CME) lectures and seminars, I never fail to tell Dr. CDS at every one of our meetings, that with his flair for writing and his rich knowledge of history, he should write more often than he does and I fondly hope that he takes my suggestion more seriously.
