July 8, 2018

Tennis is a global sport and Mysuru has been producing talented tennis players from time to time who have gone on to represent the country in various events. One such player who has made his mark in the National level in the junior boys section is city’s Arnav Pathange.

Ranked No.10 in the country in the boys U-16 singles section, he has been consistently performing in the National and ITF Junior Tournaments in the U-16 & U-18 sections. Arnav, taking part in the AITA National Championship Series U-18 Tennis Tournament in Cochin from July 1 to 6, won the U-18 boys singles title. He also teamed up well with his elder brother Aryan Pathange and won U-8 doubles title. He is our ‘Star This Week.’

The 16-year old, coached by former National player N.P. Raghuveer in Mysuru, has made rapid strides in this game.

Encouraged by his parents, Ashwath Pathange and Sunaina Pathange, this lad took up to the game as early when he was eight years old. His elder brother Aryan Pathange is also a national ranked tennis player in the boys                         U-18 section.

Arnav, taking part in the recently conducted CS U-18 AITA National Junior Tennis Tournament in Cochin, won a grand double by clinching the U-18 singles and doubles title.

In the previous week, taking part in the CS AITA National U-18 tennis tournament at Hyderabad, Arnav won the boys U-16 singles.

He emerged runner-up in the boys U-18 Singles event. Arnav teaming up with Aman B. Patel clinched the U-16 doubles title.
