Gold jewels worth Rs. 2.5 lakh recovered
Mysuru: Ashokapuram Police, who were conducting their regular beat on Chikkaharadanahalli Road yesterday at about 3.30 am, found three persons moving around in a suspicious manner and took them into custody for enquiry.
During enquiry, the three persons are said to have told the Police that in 2017 they had burgled a house near Jayanagar Railway line and had made away with 50 grams gold ornaments and Rs. 26,000 cash, which they had shared amongst themselves.
Following the revelation, the three were formally arrested and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 50 grams gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.5 lakh from them. The arrested are 30-year-old Yogesh, 22-year-old Upendra and 20-year-old Prasanna of Benagal village in Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru.
The Police also came to know that the accused had made a futile bid to rob Karnataka Gramin Bank in Saragur Police limits in the last week of August 2020 and a case (No. 119/2020) under IPC Sections 457 and 511 was registered at Saragur Police Station. The accused have been produced before a Court.
DCP M.S. Geetha Prasanna and KR Sub-Division ACP Poornachandra Tejaswi supervised Ashokapuram Inspector B.S. Prakash, Sub-Inspector Shivanna and staff K.V. Anand, M.A. Raghavendra, P.J. Raju, B.M. Mahadevaiah, Girish, Manu, Pavan and Srinivasamurthy in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Police.
