Mysuru:  Kannada Chaluvali leader and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj staged a solo demonstration in protest against defection of Legislators and huge sums of money allegedly spent by main political parties in the LS polls, at the city Railway Station Circle here this morning.

Vatal Nagaraj sought the Election Commission to end this menace at once and to bar defecting legislators from contesting any poll for ten years and also jail them for atleast two years.

Alleging that the three main political parties in the State of spending more than Rs. 4,000 crore totally in the recently held LS polls, Vatal urged the Election Commission to come up with stringent laws to curb money and muscle power in polls.

Maintaining that huge Election expenditures are posing a serious threat to democracy, he wanted the EC to curb all sorts of poll malpractices.
