Mysuru: The city’s Veda Shastra Poshini Sabha will be conferring State-level Vidwat Samman to ten scholars at a programme to take place at Ganabharathi (Veene Seshanna Bhavan), Kuvempunagar at 4.30pm on Mar.11 (Sunday).
Veteran scholar and Padmashri awardee Bannanje Govindacharya will confer the award to the scholars.
The awardees
- Vid. S.P. Kalaseshwara Bhat of Bengaluru: After retiring as Rigveda Professor at Government Chamarajendra Sanskrit College, Bengaluru, Kalaseshwara Bhat has continued to teach Vedas to students.
- Vid. Ganapathi Ananta Bhat of Tumakuru: Having served as an Yajurveda Professor at Siddaganga Sanskrit College, Tumakuru, Ananta Bhat has trained over 1,500 students in Vedas. He has won many awards including ‘Hindi Ratna’.
- Vidwan Hariveerabhadra Sharma Ghanapati of Mysuru: He is teaching Krishna Yajurveda at Ganapathi Sachchidananda Veda School in city and has taught over 200 students. Besides, he has dedicated himself to the promotion of Vedas.
- Vidu. M.C. Nagalakshmamma of Mysuru: A retired Sanskrit faculty of the city’s Maharaja PU College, M.C. Nagalakshmamma is a scholar in ‘Alankara’ and ‘Advaitha’ Vedantas. She has inspired hundreds of women through her cultural, religious and spiritual discourse.
- Vid. Bandagadde Nagaraj of Mangaluru: A former Sanskrit faculty of Ganapathi PU College in Mangaluru, Bandagadde Nagaraj has many works in Sanskrit and Kannada to his credit.
- Vidwan Dr. V.D Hegde of Mysuru: A former Sanskrit Professor of University of Mysore, Dr. V.D. Hegde has written many books and articles on Sanskrit Grammar and Alankara Shastra.
- Vid. Thimmanna Parameshwara Bhat Katte, Honnavar: After retiring as a faculty of Government Sanskrit College at Gokarna, Thimmanna Parameshwar Bhat has engaged himself in social service, teaching Agamokta practices to young students.
- Vidwan Manjunath Narayan Bhat of Kumta: An expert in Shastragoshti and religious discourse, Manjunath Narayan Bhat retired as a faculty of the city’s Maharaja Sanskrit College.
- Swachhandam Dr. A. Anantanarasimhacharya of Bengaluru: A scholar in Krishnayajurveda and Vedanta, Dr. Anantanarasimhacharya retired as a Professor at Acharya Pathashala College, Bengaluru after serving for 34 years.
- Vidwan Dr. C.H. Srinivasmurthy of Mysuru: A former Sanskrit faculty of Sarada Vilas College, he is currently engaged in teaching Veda, Upanishat, Mahabharatha etc. to students.
